I just had to buy this, as the somewhat disturbed side of my brain thinks it's awesome!

It's interesting that people are claiming that this particular bike is made in the USA, when the sticker clearly states 'Made In Taiwan'! Probably explains why the stickers have been at least partially removed on the others that I have seen

None the less I had to buy it, partly just for the stem!

I don't blame you - double u-brakes, nice rear stays and you're right, that stem is sweet!!

A guy I was at school with had a black one of the, with red forks and stem, and roller cam brakes, front and rear, loving the colours on this one,and the stem is awesome. :D

The stem, the colours, the double U-brakes! Love it, pure 80's style! :D

Please let me know if you ever fit a more suitable saddle and want to get rid of the Fisher one...

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks peeps!

The frame is just a standard chromoly. Perfectly good but nothing amazing. Not compared to the colour anyway

Andrew, funnily enough I did take the seat off last night. To be honest it's not in great condition. It has some rips and is missing the plastic plate thing that is meant to run along the back IIRC. If you are really really desperate I could figure out shipping the UK but it'd probably cheaper to buy a better one locally!

Thanks Roy. IIRC those brakes are for cheaper bikes with no brake bosses though? I might be wrong though. I'll clean up the U brakes for now but some rollercams would be rad in the future.

The headset was trashed so the plan for today was to do a quick install of a nice old Specialized headset today. Ended up taking forever as the crown race was 26.4 and the fork was designed for a 27.0. Grrrr..... Nothing that a file and some cursing couldn't fix though.

The fork on these can catch you out if you are not careful as they use the quirky 21.1mm steerer/stem size instead of the more normal 22.2. The "eyeball" stem is the best looking upright stem of its era but weighs as much as a medium weight frame, If I remember rightly the stem is a solid lump of steel, that said I wouldn't change mine for all the tea in China.

That's good to know. I assume the O.D. of the steerer is the same as a 'normal' 1" steerer as the replacement headset screwed on with no play. Yes, both the stem and handlebar weigh as much as a small horse!
