Rohloff Hub - How It Works

ooh, top linky!

Haven't got one, but would love to know if they're any good.

Always thought they wouldn't be that popular for lots of cyclists because you can't take them apart and tinker with them!
 
Always liked the idea of them but just never been sure of them at the same time. Something about not being able to see the thing working or having access to the bones of it puts me off - that and the £1k + price tag and the fact I prefer my pretty hubs...!
 
The main drawbacks from my limited understanding are:
The amount of weight at the rear of the bike effects handling.
The set isn't as effecient as normal gears
There was a third, but the alcohol has kicked in, i'll get back to you on that one :oops:
