Rockshox Judy SLs Vs Rockshox Judy DHs

I have recently bought a pair of Rockshox Judy SLs, As far as I am aware the travel is around 63mm does this sound about right ?

How much difference to the geometry would a 63mm travel fork make over a 80mm travel fork ,to the ride and handling of the bike ?

Your input would be appreciated..

Many thanks :)

I've got some 2001 SL's and I know they can be set 63, 80 and 100mm depending on the way you set the spacers up in the legs. There's an on-line manual if you go on the sram website that shows you how to do it.
If you've got em'at 63mm and you're frames corrected to 80mm, it'll probably give you "faster" handling although I've ridden my Indy at 63 and 80mm and can't notice any difference to be honest ??

Thanks for that fella

Is there anyway of checking what travel they are set at without a strip down ?

If they are set at 63mm would I need any additional items to change them to 80mm. when I compare the DHs next to the SLs they are def. shorter ..

:? :)

what era SLs do you have? original 96era judy DH were more adjustable. the aforementioned 01 were coil/oil & a lot more reliable. quantity of exposed stantion being the only give away to the amount of travel. requires a fairly easy strip down to change an internal spacer to alter the travel.

I am not really sure what year they are ? they have a normal brace on not a canti brace which is built into the lower legs, I'll do a pic and post it up , see if that sheds any light... gimme a min...

thanks BTW

Here ya go, sorry for the pic quality...

The afforementioned SRAM site shows the length of exposed stanchion to suss' length, can't remember the dims' off the top of my head but I can email it to you from my works PC if you're struggling tomorrow AM if you pm me...

Hi Jon, the forks look the same as those in the link, but they were not bought off that fella, could it be that the DHs are 100mm travel ? the DHs are deff longer.. so I assumed that the SLs were 63mm ? :? :? :)
