Rockshox Judy internals

Today I finally managed to take my Judy's apart. I purchased these this summer. When I pulled the lower legs off all oil came out...I do not have any experience with these forks but I think it's time for some maintenance.

It's the same fork as the one pictured:

So I am looking for replacement internals, perhaps even an upgrade like Englund or Eibach?

It’s probably just a damper cartridge you need if the elastomers are good. Do you have a picture of the internals you removed?

Hi Tim,

I have not got the cartridges out yet. The non drive side lost all of its oil. Are these readily available?

This is what's inside:

They are 1998 and a nice Judy fork. They'll have spring (complete springs, TypeIII) and the damper is a C type are tends not to be a problem, you can refill them through the adjuster grub screw (take it out). They also don't tend to have the corrosion problem 95/96 get on the lower bushing. But do check the seals and bushing are good.

Ah another internals picture. So at least standard setup and a most excellent condition. Clean, lube and stick back together. Check springs are for your weight.

The 'oil' will have be lubrication oil.

Manuals are in the Archive & Gallery under rockshox

Thanks for the information. Complete noob with regard to servicing forks. Do you fill the cartridges? And do I not have to take these out?

You probably don't need to touch it, the oil should still be in there. It doesn't look very used.

But if you did want to take it out, you undo the circlip holding it in place.

If it does squelch a lot when you pump it, then maybe a top up of oil.

Thanks a lot!! I did not realize these were 1998 forks. According to the manual these need 10cc of 15 wt oil in each lower leg by pouring it through the shaft bolts holes. Now I only need to find a shop selling Judy butter, oil and maybe bushings.

Re:

I have bushings and seals, its fitting bushings thats the hard part.

I doubt there is anything wrong with the current ones, not a mark on the stanchions.

I might have the typeiii springs depending on what weight you need.
