Rockhopper FSR bearings

my 2000 Rockhopper FSR upper seat stay bearings are very stiff, are they easy to replace?
between the linkage and swing arm
It looks like a steel dowel in there with a threaded hole
do I just pull(or tap) it out and clean it up, or is there something to replace?
I looked online for hours but no joy

Re:

Post photo.

I replacedall bearings including spherical bearings.
, circlip was a nightmare, on specialized epic.

Similar yet obviously different to your case as there wad no threaded inserts/dowels - could that be the shock bush?

I had a 98 FSR, that had a similar sounding set up. It had two bushings with an axle in the centre. you tap out the axle/ dowel and are left with a nylon ( I think ) tophat bushing in each end of the the hole.
I'm not sure of their availability these days, from what I remember, they were stiff and if the pivot developed play you replaced the bushings.
Hope this makes some sense?

Re:

here's the bush
that is a nylon top hat outside the steel bush

Re:

Hmmm dunno.

Have you tried contacting specialized.

If it was one solid bush, then i would have expected the bearings to br visible. Is it a top hat bush, and is other side the same?

Does it rotate?

I dont know if its just one bush, its same other side
it is very stiff you have to sit on it before it moves at all

The center bit should just slide out leaving the 2 end nylon bushes, both parts can wear.

I bought a few bags of spare bushes, if you would like a set then happy to sell you a set.

BETD do a needle bearing replacement set, and I have started trying to make my own set up.
