I presume these are elastomer, are the rubbers still boingy (it's a technical term)...? Don't mind pulling them apart for a clean & some fresh grease but would rather not be changing anything 
Does the missing adjuster knob affect anything (other than looks), or can it still be turned ok?
Look forward to some pics - I may well be keen to take these with your front wheel, if I could request dibs on the pair for a couple of hours? :shock:
