If it´s a made in California by Paul Saddof Rock Lobster you are looking at an icon. In my book way more attractive than a Bontrager or Fat Chance second only to an early Salsa built by Shaeffer himself.
Waaaay underrated. As high end as any other small US mtb brand from the 80/90s south of a Cunningham and Potts.

It wasn't.

And why more attractive than a Bontrager or a Fat....? Had Paul Sadoff not done his time with both Bontrager and Shafer to hone his skills its quite possible he wouldn't have got his start at all, given the similarities between Bontrager, Salsa and rock lobster you have confused the hell out of me.

MOre attractive because of smaller numbers and Sadoffs hands on every bike. Fats and Bontragers are factories and the bikes have more extreme geometries: FC (which i ride regularly) are made for technical terrain w/ tall bb, laid back seat angle and short front center. Awesome at tight trails w/ steep drops and slippery roots. Bontragers (which i have no experience) seem to be racing creatures: superb at climbing at fast cadence pedalling w/ low bb and steep seat angle. Salsas are balanced, neutral, do it all bikes. Lobsters lean on Salsa geo numbers. I would chose a Lobster for all around riding and my main ride if i get one.

Thank god for that, for a minute I thought you were referring to actual build quality between them, not geometry.

I have now bought this frame so my next question is if I go for a suspension fork which 1'' steerer fork should I try to find for it .The chrome ridged fork that came with it had a Orange
trade . sticker on it but was made by Aprebic
