I'm a newcomer to the site although have been riding bikes for more years than I can remember now.
I have a Chas Roberts Genesis bike, stamped in what looks like 1996 which I bought as a project but apart from stripping it down, haven't got round to do anything with so I've decided that now's the time to get started. It's in need of some TLC so I'm hoping to get it back to the condition that it should be in, starting with a nice fresh paint job.
At the moment it has the following kit which I'd imagine is what it came with rather than being retro fitted but I'm not sure so if anyone could help please I'd really appreciate it. Anything that's old & really worn will be replaced (not thinking too much about budget at the moment) so any suggestions or recommendations are welcome!
I've just read a post viewtopic.php?f=6&t=57048&start=15) that JeRkY and LAT did on a beautiful looking Genesis so that's the inspiration too.

Shimano Deore XT shifters & derailleurs
Shimano Deore XT skewers
Shimano XT brakes
Tioga Vintage alchemy stem
Bontrager racelite wheelset & hubs with 9 speed cartridge
(No bars, stem or saddle)
Everything is in okay condition with lots of life left (except maybe the forks) although cosmetically, there are scratches & nicks in the alloy & decals etc so there may be a need to replace or upgrade as I go along.
I'll try to post a few photo's but any help / ideas for a complete novice will really be appreciated.
