I bought this Ritchey new in 1989 for $1500 in San Mateo Calif. maybe a 88 model ?

Always stored inside. Frame is 20” from center cranks to top of seat tube.

Frame is Tange Prestige tubing.

Hubs are Shimano Deore XT w/ stainless spokes

Rims are Araya RM 20 Gold in color

Front brake is cantilever Shimano Deore XT black
Back brake is a U brake Shimano Deore XT black w/shark tooth

Brake levers are Shimano Deore XT black w/rubber boots in great shape

Crank set is Shimano Deore XT

Rear and Front derailer Shimano Deore XT

Pedals are Shimano Deore XT black

Stem is Ritchey Force

Bars and Grips Ritchey

Seat and Tires are not original.

This bike has no bends dents and is tight and shifts and brakes properly. Wheels are striaght

It has normal wear such as shoes rubbing on cranks scratches on pedals ect., but in very good condition.

Possible trade for street legal motor scooter.

Learn something every day. Prices move around so much, it is hard to keep up with what is particularly desirable or not.

Seems like a lot of money for that bike.

not a steal, but reasonable considering condition and spec (black m730 groupset)

But I think I know why you say that, a few years back an average condition ultra could be had for $250 to $350. Now people are trying to get that much for their ascents.

That and I think that the pictures make the bike look cleaner at first glance then when you look at it. They owner has run through the middle and small rings and they are in rough shape. What is weird, to me, is that I bought a full Steve Potts CCR on ebay, a few months ago, for under $500. How could a Japanese built Ritchey be worth more!

BP in regards to the Potts, I think you just know a good deal when you see one and should be thankful everyone else was out to lunch at auction close. Don't you think it also has something to do with the high esteem in which the IVMTB illuminati holds said Ritcheys and the way in which they have orchestrated the presentation of such bikes over the past few years?
What amazes me more is how that same Ritchey that is built in Japan with "routine cable routing" can sell for hundreds more than a GT that comes out of the same Japanese factory with cleaner "full tube" internal brake cable routing. The GT frame obviously cost GT a heck of a lot more money to be made in the same Japanese factory as it's got a lot more welding involved in it's construction....guess more than few folks got taken for a $2-300 ride on a decal :D

Bushy if the buyer is anything like you, me and the rest on this blog they will have more than enough cranks lying around with better looking rings that they will be able to throw on there. Me thinks the wear on the rings was the last thing on said buyers mind when closing the deal on this white Ritchey. Me thinks.... if you think he paid to much.... it was for a name
