I seem to remember Club Roost getting in on the riser trend pretty early on with their go-fast bars.

I thought early MTB's had risers (well kinda the same)

Sorry to post the same as everyone else, but yeah, Club Roost. I had a blue set on my Zaskar way back in the early 90's. Just like blackwall tyres, Matt black bikes, rapidfire shifters and so on, riser bars are properly retro

I'm sure the early Stumpjumpers had Nitto risers as stock back in 81/82 - I have a Saracen from the mid-eighties that has a pair... so concur that it was straight bars that was the fad!

Yep, flatties were the fad. Klunkers had risers, my 86 Cannondale has risers too.
