got up late
mooched around abit, watched a little bit of crap telly, hmm . . . ride time i thought to myself
select the kona from the stable, i have to say i'm really pleased i got this back, the ride is so good and the set up is faultless, never a dodgy gear change, the only bummer is the brakes, they have no power at all by comparison with modern (sorry
)brakes, but i think a change of pads might make a big difference but brakes aren't important in the new forest, it's flat!
anyway decide that i don't want to ride the immediate trails from my place, sometimes the nearest trails feel like a means to an end to get to the trail you want to ride, make sense? i think so! also if you always start from home you get to a point when you can't go further without having to turn back due to time, milage or whatever.
so i load the kona on to the car and drive 12 miles away to brockenhurst, slap bang in the centre of the new forest, the idea being that i ride towards burley. park the car at the standing hat carpark and unload the bike, head off into brockenhurst then on to sway road and then pick up the disused railway, afer a while i have to cross a road and pick up another trail, most of this ride is on gravel trails, which is good when it's wet as the bike stays working properly and you can bang in good miles quite quickly!
carry on and cross another main road going down a hill and up the other side which chucks me out at the edge of burley, i go round the outskirts and pick up a trail back towards lyndhurst and then back towards brockenhurst and back to the car.
23miles in total
hers's the pics, i'll try and get them in order!
