Hi Folks :)

I'm one of those guys, I'm sure there must be others like me. Don't get me wrong I love music, I tap my foot regularly and even may even break into a little jig in the workshop if I'm sure I wont be seen.
But.. I have never payed any attention to music, musicians, or bands.. odd I know but I swear I cannot name more than half a dozen bands that I enjoy and would not have a HOPE of naming a singer. I just turn the radio on in the workshop and if it's crap I turn it off again. Easy.

Now that I'm back in the saddle and trying to keep up the motivation I figure some really good blood pumping tunes (while on deserted singletrack) would be just the ticket.

So.. I figure we have all kinds of folk here from all walks of life and from all over the world, I have stolen swmbo's mp3 gadget and I would absolutely love to know your favorite riding tunes. Don't care what it is, I want to ride to it.

Cheers :D

Tunes

I have a top ten album run down on my I Pod , here goes !

1 Ultravox , Systems of Romance 1978
Note this is not the "Vienna Ultravox" but the original line up with John Foxx as the front man . Still my fav album after 32 years .

2 The Flaming Lips , Yoshimi battles the Pink Robots . 2002

3 Captain Beefheart , Doc at the radio staion . 1977

4 The Jam , All mod cons . 1978

5 The Pink Floyd , Piper at the gates of dawn . 1967

6 The Small Faces , Ogdens nut gone flake . 1968

7 Roxy Music , Roxy Music . 1973

8 David Bowie , Hunky Dory . 1971

9 Dr Feelgood , Down at the jetty 1975

10 Nirvana , Never mind . 1993

I always keep my I Pod well stocked with sounds , so I don't need to hear my mates waffling about their modern components and my flab :D .

At the moment it has every Jam track , early Ultravox , Joy Division , Interpol , Tubeway Army , Small Faces , Early Doobie Bros , The Who , Radiohead , Flaming Lips , Supertramp , Simple Minds , Traffic , Beatles , Kate Bush , and countless compilations too mostly punk .

Good topic!

If you like euphoric indie-rock, I'd recommend "There Goes The Fear" or "Pounding" by Doves, as they both get my heart and legs pumping. I think they've just released a 'Greatest Hits' album with both tracks on there.

Thanks Guys :D (and thanks to whomever moved this thread to the correct spot)

I'm working my way down the page cut'n'pasting the songs into youtube.. I'm getting some pretty odd looks from the better half.. I don't think she has ever heard music coming from my laptop before

Wait a sec.. I think she just shot me an approving nod
