Since I'm assume you're not typing from a BBC micro, then try turing off the Caps Lock also


Aslo type resize pictures into a search engine and you'll find plenty of online tools.
Also
XP Powertoys is a simple one for WindowsXP (from Microsoft)

I personally use Paint.net (www.getpaint.net)
you just open your picture, select the are you want, hit CROP
Then use RESIZE to shrink it to say 600 wide.
Then SAVE it as JPG using approx 80% compression.
Should do the job for you and does it well.
