retro kona question

Hi,
This is probably a stupid question but here goes....

Do the project 2 forks on 1992 kona fire Mountain bikes have a 1 inch steerer?

Would it be possible to put a stem off an old road bike (with threaded steerer), on to this bike, or were the steerer sizes different on road bikes to mtb's then ?

As I said, this could be a stupid question!...... it certainly feels like it!

From memory which is never trustworthy, 1992 bikes had 1 1/8th with the lower models using 1"

MTB and Roadie 1" is one and the same, you can use road stems on MTB forks without and problems.

Somebody will come along with some decent info I'm sure but its never wrong to ask.

Sizes are in the archive in the kona technical section, a pdf there.

Only problem I can think of using road stems if if it uses the road handlebar diameter of 26.0 and not 25.4 and run the mtb bars How much of a problem is probably back to LGF and his wonderful way of mixing and matching
