tricky to get a gear hanger maybe??

Quite possibly, although you could get one machined for a couple quid, I'd have thought. It's not the most complex piece of metal.

you can pick them up on ebay no bother. I think cannondale used the exact same rear mech hanger for a number of years even when they changed the style of their rear dropouts
