Replacing spoke nipples.....

I've just bought a hundred green Halo nipples for my resprayed green '95 'dale M900. Would it be okay to replace them one by one and then pass the wheel "loose" to the LBS to have them trued or will the rim suffer? (M.Steels in Newcastle would insist on new spokes otherwise) The reason I'm replacing them is not just basically I'm a tart but also because although they've done less than 10 miles on them both wheels are out of true. They're the cheapo Deore/Sun CR18 set that SJS Cycles have been flogging for years and only cost £40 but it's not the point really is it? I have heard the shop get bad press in the past and wonder if anyone else has had any bad experiences with them.

can't really see a problem with what you're suggesting so long as they are the same length and you don't over tighten them, and transport/store them carefully once done.

Cheers mate, I've lost count of how many times Steels have charged for new spokes so they can "guarantee" the build. I'll pay for the skilled labour but spokes ain't cheap £28.80 for the last pair of disc wheels I had built!

Hi Fella, try Philip (RC300) he has just built me a set of wheels.. top build and only charged me £ 40.00 for the complete build including DT DB Spokes collection and return..and I live in morpeth. :) so location should not be a problem..
