Replacing old Shimano 7 speed brake/gear combo - Acera maybe

Hi

I have an old raleigh that has Shimano 3x7 set up. Its my commuter bike on a flat commute so only use about 3 gears. The right hand shifter is about done in and I dont use the left at all. Would a pair of V brake levers and a thumbshifter for the right work?? Do I need to replace like for like? If I was fitter I could go singlespeed!!!

Any help would be much appreciated

as long as the thumb is 7 or 8 it will work fine, and as fro the left I'd leave it for that steep hill you find one day,

Brake levers as long as your brakes are V, V brake levers will work fine
