A shot in the Dark .
I have a nice old Lucas king of the road carbide lamp . The glass is however cracked . Does any one know if spares can be purchased ?
I have looked one line to no avail .

Is that the one with a magnifying type glass? seems to ring a bell. Back in the 70's we couldn't get spares from anyone so I guess it's worse now. Maybe you could have the old one copied?

Yes Shaun , it is. Lens type thickness to cope with the heat .Thinner around its edge so as it can be clipped into the rim of the lamp .

I had considered modern safety glass .

Re:

You could look for Condenser lens in the well known market place.
Would not matter if one was a bit worn.

I've got loads of NOS carbide lamp spares that came from my grandfather's & my fathers cycle shop dating back to the 1920.
I know for sure there are new burners, Reflectors, Drip taps, Springs to hold the glass's in & various other parts. There might be some spare glass I will check later. as I have about 8 old carbide lamps myself.

Blimey :) Just out of curiosity what was your family bike shop called.

I was going to offer to have my lab tech make a replica in polymethylmethacrylate if it was for show :)

C Weston was the name of the shop in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
Charles Weston being my grandfather & George Weston was my father, but even when my father took over it was still called C Weston.

I've got a photo of my Grandfather & Grandmother standing outside the shop & you can see the old bike in the window & I think some carbide lamps as well. I will dig it out & scan it & put a photo up somewhen.
