replacement Diacompe brake cable securing bolt.

I have a set of old Diacompe side pulls on a Trek I'm building for my wife. I've now had the second crowned nut fail. This is the nut that fixes the cable to the brake arm. Is there any way to buy a replacement nut or replacement nut and bolt? When the first one failed my LBS sold me a set out of a new set of cheap Chinese side pulls, but I don't think they will do that again and I really don't want to pay for a whole new brake set just for the bolt/nut assembly.

Could you get a normal bolt and and alter it to do the job, if you get a stainless one you could polish it up to make it look nice
