Before I dismantly my rear Ti-glide Hope hub - does anyone know what part wears on these causing the cassette to wobble/develop play. Also what spares would I need to overhaul this hub - does it sound like the rear wheel bearings or is there a separate part that wears on the cassette freehub on these? Also where can I source the spares to restore it and how much are parts for these hubs and can you still get parts for them?

Does sound like the bearings are gone, i have'nt sripped a Hope but i rebuilt my White industries rear, most of these hubs are built the same, there may be a tiny hole in the non drive side to insert an allan key through, the White industries hub has three small allen grub screws that are slackened off to remove the cap on the non drive side, axle can then be knocked out, knock out one of the bearings and take as a sample it to your local bearing supplier, new sealed bearings should be about a fiver each.

Thanks very much Steve - that's a great help and very useful link for future ref. regards

Aye, it certainly helped me out the first time I did it. You should have no bother doing the job with those instructions. As Jimi says, get the bearings from your local bearing supplier or if you can't get there, there's always CRC.
:D

I service my Hope hubs in the same manner but it helps a lot if you heat the hub bearing housings up slightly with a electric heat gun. The alloy of the housings expands at a quicker rate than the steel of the bearing so allows clearance between the two components and the bearings literally drop out with no force at all so there is not risk of damaging the bearings or grazing the housings during the process.

I've found the best and often cheapest way to fix hope hubs is to send them to Hope. A full service is about £35 for which you usually get a brand new freehub body, bearings and new ratchet/pawls etc.

Having said that they are easy to strip and it's fun to do at home. The only part that requires a trip to Hope is when the teeth in the hub body begin to snap off... usually about 3 years for me.
