Have a very nice pair of NOS Ritchey skinwall tyres that I want to fit to a new project for some proper photos. Problem is the black tread part of the tyres are covered in the white residue of the release film they use to stop them sticking to the mould during vulcanisation. I have tried Muc-Off, degreaser, hot water & washing up liquid, disk brake cleaner, stiff nylon brush plus combinations of all of them together. Cannot get the stuff off the tyres. I know what will clean them, a wet muddy ride will get them in pristine condition but I don't want to do that. Anyone tried, and succeded, in removing the stuff?

I've heard that AutoGlym Bumper and trim renovator is good for the job...

It's the green and slimy one.

**EDIT** Actually I've got a pot here, bung me your address and I'll send it to ya karma as I owe you host of favours  8)

If it don't work, you can keep your car bumper black and shiny for free...

Cheers Steve. The problem with colouring the stuff is that is all you do, disguise it. I want to remove the stuff. I have access to rubber Buffing solution (Buffsol) at work which is very powerful stuff. Probably too much for the very pretty sidewalls.

Ride em on some tarmac on a dry so as not to mess up the bike and the sidewalls. Or wet n dry them a bit to sand off the white.
