Hello,
I'm working on a Dura Ace 7400 set up with STIs. The left hand shifter was sticking badly, I think because of dried up grease in the mechanism. The upshift arm stayed at 90 degrees to the body. I sluiced the shifter through with WD-40 and left it to soak overnight. A load of nasty looking old grease dripped out, and the mechanism now seems to work again - hooray.
However, does anyone have any idea about how to regrease the internals? There are a few springs and bits visible on the outside of the sti, but I'm not sure whether/how to grease the internals. Would it be a good idea to rinse it through with penetrating oil before greasing (or even instead of greasing)?
Thanks for any tips - I haven't really worked on Dura Ace stuff before.
Cheers,
Johnny
