Refinishing M900 crank arms?

Do people generally just polish up M900 crank arms? Bought a used pair off here and I intend to tart them up a bit. I have no idea what sort of finish is on them? Its like they were polished then clear coated over the top? Also does anyone do decent XTR decals for on them?

They're clear anodized with clear coat on top of that.

I just polish mine up but have always wondered how to achieve that 'milky' finish think I might try polishing them then immersing them in a lemon juice and water solution then a lacquer finish.....any thoughts ?

mmm might see if i can get a crank arm polished and a clear anno finish put on top see how that looks

They are a pewterish (? not really a word, but useful here) color, and when you polish through it the difference becomes apparent. You can polish them beautifully but you will lose the color that makes them look the way they do.

Take a look at Martin's blog (Second Spin Cycles) he gives a pretty detailed explanation on how to restore a set of M900 cranks to pretty much perfect condition. You might have to work through the last year to find all the stages but it's worth doing. It's a great blog
