recommend me a rim

Bought an XT hub for a fiver and want to make a nice front wheel with it. What rims would you guys recommend? I do mostly XC but I do like fast downhill sections. P2 forks, no suspension.

what era?
For me its SUN. Fits perfectly with the US CNC most ofus try to fit.
Otherise, yes, the 231 is the ubiquotous choice

One of my first Wheelsets were xt 's laced to i think mavic 231's[bought 98 ish] with the ceramic coating,they were used for ten or so years with some but not a lot of wear,you can get through two non ceramic rims in that time
Sunn Rhyno were pretty damn strong and they're from about the same era
Anodized red too

Just don't forget to buy the 'rim brake version' of the rims

D521's, silver, ceramic or cd. Occasionally some pop up on evil-bay and on here. It's a shame they stopped making them

SJS still have some Mavic 230's, quite light weight though.
