I have made the fatal error of buying another bike without the funds upfront to do so.. Let's just say the mother in law helped out and now I am keen to pay her back ASAP!
As a result, my last build has to go to make way for the latest addition, an FW Evans tourer with Campagnolo groupset...
Have edited title to highlight that I am considering splitting if anyone is interested....
Here we have an 18" GT tempest, 7005 aluminium, 18 inch seat post, which has been stripped back to bare metal by long laborious applications of elbow grease, nitromors and wire wool. I went for a brushed rather than polished finish, but a rub over with 0000 wire wool and some autosol will have this frame shining away.
The rest of the build is as follows:
Rock Shox Tora fork with stickers removed, I still have the original fork that can come as part of the sale
Mavic x221 rims on deore hubs with black spokes, running smooth.
XT front and rear mech
STX RC crank
XT shifters with windows removed
Nice light seatpost , can't remember what it came from but I bought it on here!
Ritchey riser bar and stem
M900 brakes with nearly new Shimano pads
LX brake levers
Goodridge brake cable kit
XTR gear cable inners and outers
Shimano HG93 chain
New Shimano bottom bracket
New Octane one headset and Token spacers
GT pedals
sunlight waffle lock on grips with aluminium ends
I will even throw the crap saddle in for free!
I only completed this build about 6 weeks ago, since then it has never been muddy, and has only had road use, I also ventured along the bridleway a few times!
I have been really pleased with the way this bike rides. There are a few bad points to mention:
I fitted a second hand 9 speed cassette and this has some worn teeth on the three smallest rings. If you want to use the smallest rings, which you will of course (!) then a new cassette would be required.
The top tube has a couple of small nicks, not obvious but they there.
There are a few marks on the stem, and a scratch on the grips, these can be seen in the photos.
The forks had some scuffs that I touched in with paint, this can be seen in the photos.
I have really tried to include everything, if I think of anything else I will post it up, ideally you would come and have a look first as I want to make sure the next owner is going to be happy!
So the price, £240 posted in the UK, £220 for collection.
As explained, I need the money to pay for my latest purchase, so am really looking for a straight sale, ideally a bank transfer!
I don't really want to split but need to release the cash so PM me if you have any thoughts on this and I can keep a reserve list if the bike does not sell complete.
