just fitted my saracen up with single speed cranks and the only spacers i had were about 0.5 mm to thin so the chain ring bolts couldn't tighten all the way up. thought wtf and went riding any way... and guess what... a floating chainring!, the end to slightly squiffy chain alignment! or may be it will just work loose and fall off and then chuck me in a hedge....discuss.

anyone got any chainring spacers?

Erm.....hope you are not going to hoof up any big hills like that!
Images of face/hard surface compact springs to mind....let alone the family jewels

Get some shorter singlespeed specific chainring bolts (from Charlie the Bikemonger) or just take a file or bench grinder to the female threaded part (the nut, in other words) and take off a little more than the amount that they are proud of the chainring .
Five minutes work should sort it 8)
