I really want a rat bike like a old Indian motorcycle but as a cycle. Seen these on facebook groups and love them but can't find any suppliers in uk, only from states. Could try building one myself but don't think I have the ability. Any ideas?

Post some picture examples. Depends what you want from the bike or it to look like. Loads of options with a bunch of parts that fit and imagination.

there is a group that meets on Bournemouth front, I forget the name but ill have a look, there was someone in the uk importing bikes attached to the group

Yeah just start noticing cross riding style parts on your travels or see what these guys have built theirs out of, sometimes you get stuck with compatibility, but in many ways anything can fit anything and parts sizes and standards have been bouncing around for years.
Have a think about your base bike... an old frame and forks/bike refurb, a new traditional frame, either of these modified? and go from there. or just get an old bike and modify bit by bit. let us know how you get on.

will keep an eye on this thread, i have a bomber iam going to rebuild into a cruiser an a ridgeback mountain bike iam thinking of building into a rat bike, unsure if to go for rust effect or olive drab paint at the moment

Since then it's sat in a garage gaining a fantastic layer of rust on the frame (I have some recent pics that I'll try and find and post). I could probably be persuaded to part with it if the price was right!

Lovely example. What sort of price was you asking? Or fancy a swap? Where abouts are you?

I really need to cull some of my many bikes so not really interested in a swap. I'd take £150 as the repro Monarch front end cost me almost that to import from the States. It would also have to be collection only from Canvey Island in Essex as, as it's home made I'd want any potential buyer to have a good look at it first.
