Rare Postman's Bike

Seeing Tim Gould ride around that course you would have thought his wheels were on fire....!

Nice,

I saw Tim's bike at the 1991 Malvern Hills Classic, really bog standard, nothing fancy on it a real racers bike...Fred Salmon's and Nick Craig's bikes were there too and there were other Grisley bikes with some gorgeous paint jobs on them...think I might have a piccie somewhere...

Would make a fab project eh!

here's that photo...

The ones in your photo are Ritchey not Grisley. Check out the fastback seatstays - pure ritchey class!
The very early ones were Roberts white spiders, but that was back in the Baker/Gould days when Peugeot bikes were all shite

I never saw a peugeot up close that wasn't sh*te :D :D
I may have missed out on some good ones (the upmarket stuff - I never saw any except the team ones at races) but all the ones I saw were bloody terrible. We sold them in Halfrauds and I saw lots of broken frames - largely due to the internal brazing technique they used at the time.
As for the Tim Gould Replica..er...yesssssss.
Well it wasbetter than an Activator.
But then so was being beaten with knotted rope and having your nipples wired to the mains.

That Gould bloke could ride, mind. :D :D
