Raleigh Royal revamp

101

Retro Newbie
Finished this, old frame but not old bits.
A sort of mild update from early 80's to mid to late 90's, and some gravel bars!

Cool, seems like you’ve done a good job there then.
I can’t recall hearing those speakers but they’re my kind of thing; efficient and dynamic - and great for valve amps! 😀

Late 80's through to mid 90's. Popular with Audio Innovations valves, oops wrong forum!

Ironically I have a solid state amp arriving in the morning that may well kick out the valves.
A Luxman.
They’re not necessarily exclusive in function and sound quality though, as your Luxman might prove.
I use a hybrid valve/mosfet amp (Pathos TT), that’s basically a valve amp in design and has to be treated like one. I’d probably go for solid state if I was starting again, given all the hassle I’ve had!

Valves, I have had fizzing and crackling along with pretty much every valve amp I've had.
I once put 2A3 valves in an amp incorrectly once, that was interesting lots of acrid white smoke, like a shuttle launch.

I just told my daughters about it!
Oh dear, they are being very vocal, they like my valve amps
