Hi all
I have a bike with a 26 x 1 3/8 wheel that needs a puncture repair.
I removed the nail and bought 4 Raleigh inner tubes via eBay, and a decent polypropylene rim tape
I then changed the inner tube, in accordance with instructions, inflated it and it split along the inner edge.
I removed it, re-positioned the rim tape, put another tube in, same thing happened
To cut down repetition: I have now put no fewer than 5 inner tubes on this wheel and every single one punctured on the inside edge before it was even fully inflated. For the last three I even fully lined the rim with duck tape as well as the rim tape.
I''m not a great bike mechanic but I know how to change a tube!!! Why is this happening to me???? Did Raleigh stop making inner tubes a long time ago and am I buying old degraded stock? Is there some incantation that must be made or a sacrifice required?
Or is it just not my week?
