for sale or swap.
i have a race face titanium stem, i did intend to use this on my current build.
but this will not fit the fork i am using,
this is for 1 1/8" steerer and standard size bar.
120mm long c to c. 0. degree rise
the issue is the wall thickness on my fork steerer is thicker than normal
so this will not fit the inside diameter of the steerer.
however i tried it on a rock shock fork and it is fine.
the stem is in stunning condition.
i am asking for £45 + postage to cover what i paid.
or looking for a swap for another ti stem.

the inner clamp diameter is specific size to either a steel steerer, thinner wall so wider clamp, or aluminum steerer, thicker wall so smaller clamp. which is this?

this stem is specific to a steel steerer,
the fork i am using has an aluminium steerer.
so this stem will not work with an aluminium steerer

Hi there,
You say you`ve tried this on some Rockshox and it fitted, were the Rockshox steel or aluminium steerer?
I have some 1st gen Sid`s with alu steerer and may well be interested if it`ll fit.
Regards J.

the steerer on my rock shox is steel, don't know about your sid's.
all i know is this stem will not fit the steerer on my current fork and it is aluminium.

Back again,
The shim that kase1983 made/fabricated and fitted, can this be removed to enable the stem to fit alu steerer tubes (i.e. one`s with a smaller inside diameter). Whats inside the shim? I believe it to be just an expanding wedge. If this is so, then the brass shim cant be a full circle i.e. it must have a split down it?
Sorry if it`s a bit of a vague description but its many years since i`ve seen one up close.

Many thanks regards James.

i have enclosed a pic of the wedge & copper band removed.
it basically works like a quill stem.
i've also measured the diameter of the wedge, 22mm.

Just been on your Merlin build thread and seen the wall thickness of the fork your using and wow! it sure is a thick guage steerer.
Well the internal dia. of my sid alu steerer is approx 24.5mm now i`ve finally got home from work and had a chance to look.
Whats the brass/copper shim thickness? Looks about 1mm?
As you`ve had little interest, how about £45 posted?
