Dual seat clamp. Not noticed that before. My TCR was only a single clamp. Was this a team issue feature?

Hello, I think so,

I also think its the 2001/2002 TCR but the thing is that the team issues then were carbon.

The frame did come from an ex-racer that said it was a one of a kind team issue but the decals are aftermarket, so i'm really just trying to get any good information i can find.

Thanks!

I had a 2003 aluminum TCR with a double seat clamp, but from memory I think the 2 clamp bolts faced different ways. Mine was satin black with yellow transfers

Did you really mean 1992 to or was that a typo? I'm not sure when they evolved. I'm not sure when they went from 1 inch to 1 1/8 steerers

Some Giant catalogues here seem to place the frame in 2003 with the same style of forks and double seat clamp design. I think the the first TCR's came out around 1997 maybe.

Mine was a relatively early one sourced from their Nottingham warehouse as a clearance, late 90's.

I saw this one advertised on eBay. A few odd features of an ONCE ex-team bike as it’s missing the race number mounts on the bottom of the top tube. It should have a Cinelli stem, Mavic weren’t the wheel sponsor at this time etc. Even the ONCE logo feels wrong with the black infill of yellow script.

I did contact the seller about detailed provenance…nothing much forthcoming. They also used a photo of Laurent Jalabert in 1998 riding a similar bike…but that is defo a later frame. Attached is a similar, but correct ONCE bike from Manolo Sainz (ONCE Director Sportif’s private collection)

Manolo's GRUPO ONCE switched to Giant wich Campagnolo not before 1999. From 1989 to 1988 the Team used LOOK bikes, except a special white Klein Quantum Pro for TT

The mentioned frame set similar to a TCR 2nd Gen had been issued not before 2003 and in 2004 eventually as a BH
labeled when Team renamed to Liberty Seguros and Mnolo Saiz signed a bike sponsoring with BH and BH has no
reasonable frame set on its portfolio...

1998 May have been a transitional years for ONCE as there are photos of Laurent Jalabert as French National Road Race Champion riding a Giant TCR for ONCE and he was national champion in 1998 not 1999, unless you wear it the year after you win it?

Hi Triatholonchap32,

I was passed your retrobike link in case the TCR I am selling (ebay auction ends tomorrow) might be of interest. Am trying to piece together the history back to ONCE (I think 2 I am 2 sales away from the serious cycliste)...if I have anything wrong in my listing please let me know.

Wish you all the very best, MVP (Chris)
