Quill to ahead conversion thingy's... any good?

I wondered if any of you guys had used a quill to Aheadset conversion doo da's.. they basically allow you to use and ahead stem instead of quilled...

I need to buy an 1 1/4 if anyone has one to sell.. or if you can point me in the direction, tha would be great too..

Think you might struggle to find one in 1 1/4". They only seem to be readily available in 1" steerer to 1 1/8" stem.

I struggled to find 1 1/8" at both ends.

I used one on the other half's Orange with no ill effect.

However, I've found that they work best if you use a stem with a two bolt rear clamping system as those with an internal clamping system such as Thomson, Pace, Ringle etc can slip.

make sure that you get one that is 28.6mm diameter all along. the photos show the one with the step-down to the 25.4mm quill which is not what you want.
