That should be how it's done. Auctions are a contract, and he's fulfilled his part of it by paying you promptly. Apparently feedback ransom is de rigeur these days, though.

Last time i noticed you can't leave a buyer anything other than positive anyway.

I also don't agree that payment is the end of the matter for the buyer either. If there is a problem i think it's important to note how either party dealt with it.

Lewis has hit the most important nail on the head.
A seller can only leave positive feedback.
It would be courteous to leave feedback as soon as payment is received, if the a'hole factore later comes into play and you have kept your part of the bargain all along as a decent ebayer, then eBay will investigate the case and in 99.9% of cases honour your request to remove the dubious negative feedback.

Just be a decent honest seller (which im sure you are) and you cant go wrong.
