Question for experienced Ebayers

Dirt Disciple
This is really a general question about Ebay wisdom but I guess it might be justified and useful for us retro heads here given that so much of the retro scene centres on Ebay.

Basically I have used Ebay for a while to buy loads of bike stuff but recently had something to sell. However the winner of the auction (which ended some 3 weeks ago) has still not paid and no longer replies even to polite emails although she did at first. The winning price was about £130 so not a tiny amount.

What do you guys find is the best thing to do in this situation? I suppose I should give her negative feedback to warn other people and then relist but then if she finally pays up and asks for the goods they will have gone. Also, as she has not yet given me feedback, if I do so negatively then I assume she will just give me negative feedback out of spite thus needlessly ruining my 100% positive record over 60 purchases. This is almost a question of game theory!

you shouldnt have waited that long, you need to file a non payer complaint against them on ebay, look thru the help pages and you find the link easy enough, they will then be given warnings by ebay etc and if they still dont pay you will get your fees back and no feedback can be left but thats about all you can do.
set your ebay preferences better in your account to stop idiots bidding on your stuff, you can block all sorts of things like people with zero feedback etc etc.

Thanks for that, sounds very sensible. It was quite strange with this bidder as they had 140 transactions with 100% positive feedback. Their feedback was however set to private which I guess is a warning sign.

possibly was a hijacked account at the time of bidding, they probabely have some dodgy feedback now due to that and are hiding it whilst they try and sort it out.

That's a tough one. And the other retro members comments are very good. When i've had this situation then i've left a neutral feed back and put a comment which is not positive but which is honest, if you get my gist.

talk of the devil - just had an email from the bidder saying they are waiting for paypal permission to use their account and will I please wait a bit longer. Oh and she said she's not a timewaster: no sense of irony obviously!
