Q: HG90 - HG91

HG was first and is still around. IG was a 90s thing. If memory serves, IG was an add on to HG ...it was supposed to help specifically with shifting to smaller cogs. It added cuts on the other side of rear cogs and small cuts on the ends of outer link plates.

Narrower HG chains don't mix as well with IG cassettes.
IG chains should work fine with either HG or IG cassettes

But what's the difference between HG90 and HG91?

Sorry...Hadn't had my coffee. The HG90 has a black finish on the roller plate and a silver finish on the pin link plate. The HG91 is all silver. Other than that, nada.
