any one got any advice on projectors for use in home cinemas? going to be used in a loft conversion so light isnt a problem, image would probably be about 2mx1m ish...

probably looking at second hand, any pitfalls? questions to ask? brands to avoid/look for?

I've been looking into these too and found a lot of pitfalls.

Image resolution and connectivity are typical ones.

I bought an Epson EMP-TW20 a few years ago for just under £600. It's not fancy but it does the job. Thoroughly recommended for a loft conversion type cinema :D

a mate says the bulbs can be vry expensive when they go

fancy the idea myself but funds wont allow :(

Bulbs are expensive but if you're only using it in a home cinema, and keep the place dust-free, you'll get plenty of life out of them. But yes, you might easily spend £300 on a replacement bulb for a £500 projector.

At my old job I used a lot of the Acer short throw projectors. Like this one. Excellent if you're short of space!
