Hello, I have something to ask about these Project 2 forks

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... 202%20Fork

I think these are for MTB, not sure if there was any made for road bikes.

Did Kona make any silver ones as it's the first I have seen, Kona have made gold and black ones, but these I am not so sure.

Maybe you guys know more info than me and tell if these are correct or not.

At the moment I am looking for new Project 2 forks for my bike. Thanks

Well the first of the two can only be used with road or cyclocross wheels, but you could use the second on your Lava Dome, provided the 91 still had a 1" steerer, which I assume it did.

The only drawback is that the Wiggle fork is the 'suspension-adjusted' length of 410mm, whereas your bike was designed for a 390mm fork. Fitting a 410 will make the steering less sharp and personally I wouldn't do it, although I appreciate that some people prefer the steering to be less sharp, especially if it's for commuting.

You might be able to get a 390 on eBay, preferably triple-butted which is much better than the single-butted (and half a pound lighter!), but you may well be limited to a quill stem in that case. Wouldn't bother me, I like quill stems, but all a matter of taste.

Best of luck!

You're right that the colour is non-original, but also are you sure you've got a 1" steerer? Others on here like Tallpaul will know better, but I thought my Cinder Cone was a 91 and that had a 1 1/8.

If you do need a 1 1/8, Kona still make them in triple-butted mtb in beautiful black, even if Wiggle don't happen to stock them

I'm fairly sure i've proved on numerous occasions that i don't know better about anything

Cheers Anthony for the info, well both of you know a hell alot more than me!

Guybe, I have a pair of threaded 1 1/8" P2s from a '94 Cinder Cone that are available if you like, but the steerer is only 120mm so you'd need to have a small-ish frame that you're working with. There are some pics at

about 80% of the way down the page. Some of the other stuff is still available too.

Cheers, Gareth.
