So, the letters sent to the cabinet from Prince Charles are to be made public. Good decision? I think so. Why? Read on.
A man with a lot of inherited influence, sends letters meant to be private, to change government policy, that will have absolutely no influence on HIS life, to a government voted in by the general public. They are there to represent us and our views at the end of the day.
Not his.
He is, of course entitled to his opinion, but as a member of the royal family, why should his ideals have any influence on our lives?
If the content is not inflammatory, then why have the government just paid £275, 000 to fight this. Would also like to hear their response to his letters, be it Labour or Conservative depending on who was in power at the time.
Let's hear your thoughts on the matter.

Re:

OMG!

I've just noticed Mrs Muz has hacked into my account. It's ok though, she's en route to the tower as we speak!

In reality though, I can live with doing some of the national series instead, should buggerlugs get the hump!

What if they just humoured him? Likely I'd have thought.

"A carbuncle on the face of an old friend......."

Re:

As I say, it would be interesting to read the reply from the government of the time, as well as his letters.

I think Princess Anne could not possibly be offended, even if the subject mater is her brother.
After all, it's not like I'm condemning him to the tower is it?

Re:

Using our money to stop us from finding out what was in those letters he sent, in order to change government policy. That affects us. Not him.

Re:

The man's allowed to write to a minister if he wishes, I have, several times, and a number of MP's. It does not mean he gets a reaction, just a polite response (from a civil servant).

Re:

He ought not to be lobbying privately. If anything, he ought to canvass openly on issues he feels.

No one is suggesting he ought ought not to have an opinion.

Merely that he should remember who he is and remain within the bounds of his position.

Re:

I think the fact he is not openly canvassing is quite telling.
Anyone is entitled to am opinion of course. But owing to his inherited influence, he should not be allowed to send PRIVATE letters to the government of the time expressing his views.
The fact that there has been legal wrangling about whether they should be made public, is an obvious sign of their inflammatory nature IMO.

BTW, your headset is in the post Neil
