my wife is in need of some prescription shades.she has oakley half jackets and yes prescription lenses are available at £150 just for the lenses  but are there many other options around preferably for a complete set of shades???

Try Optilabs. I've used their Sprint frames with prescription Photochromic lenses year round for about 5 years now. Good service and reasonable prices.

Lenses are lenses... Unless you want all the Oakley anti-glare coatings, or you have a particularly complex prescription?

All my prescription Oakleys have had standard lenses from the optician or one of their suppliers (clear, slight tint, or transitions). Turnaround was way faster and cost way cheaper than Oakley branded lenses.

Rudy Project Rydons here with Rx insert. Bought online from gosportspexs I think. good service good job too. the prescription insert sits behind the lenses allowing you to swap lenses. You can buy an unglazed Rx insert and get your optician to glaze them.

A bit strange at first, lenses close to eye lashes, soon got used to it. Personally I love them. This option gives a greater range of lens types available I think. Rudy also make lots of girl frames too.

Adidas evil eye available prescription too [assuming she wants to look like Bono]

so you are saying they will copy an oakley lens shape to clip into the half jacket frame??

I have 3 pairs of Rx Oakleys. 2 are factory lenses, one made in-house by the optometrist. Took them 3 tries to get them right......well, the one lens does still pop out once in a while. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Yes. Just like they shape all other prescription lenses to fit your chosen frame.

My current pair are the smaller Crosshair shape. They used the Oakley lenses as templates, shaped the prescription lenses to fit & popped the original lenses back in the box.

I even had some of the frameless Ti ones. Oakley had 3 standard templates for the lens shapes. Because the lens shape isn't dictated by having a frame, my optician drew up a new shape, combining elements of the 3 standard ones. Cut the prescription blanks around that shape & fixed them to the frames. Job done.

I used to have soem bolle things (their version of blades) that has the clip in lense, felt horrible and fogged up badly...

was going to get rudy project rydons or soemthing, but refused to get the clip in lense and the insereted lense was $$$$$$$$$ (but i did want transistion lenses)... so went for oakley half jackets, 1 pair grey 1 pair clear lense... seem to work pretty well... and don't look too...well overly stupid when just wearing about...
