Powder coating - any suggestions where please?

Hi All,

I have some rims I dont like on my latest beach cruiser bike. A previous owner has spraypainted them in a really lame shade of red and the the colour looks really flat.

I want to get the wheels tarted up, ie, new spokes, hubs etc, also get the rims stripped down and powder coated. Can anyone please recommend a place I can get them powder coated, preferably close to Hertfordshire, but not essential?

I prefer a place that has a wide selection of colours. My bike is painted in a silver Porsche colour and also I might want the rims done in the same colour, but I might get them done in something else, it would be nice to have the choice if I want.

I used Impact Coating in Colchester three times and they ahve done a good job for me and cheap too. I have never seen a powder soated rim before. I hope the overspary does not norrow the spoke hole alot as getting the nipple through would be a problem.

i am not an expert so would appreciate any tips, but i would like them to look 100% once they- are all done, so dont want to do it half-assed as they say .

i guess getting them sprayed is fine but i want to deconstruct the whole wheels, get the rims painted and then finish off with a totally new looking set of wheels.

I wouldn't want any coating on the braking surface either.

there is no braking surface, the bike is a Beach cruiser and only has a rear coaster brake.

i have gone on google and it seems that getting rims powder coated is the long way to do it and the most durable and also gives a great finish, so i will try and do more research as many seem to have tried it with great results. i have 2 other bikes, so its not like i wont have anything to ride

Powder coating is definatley more durable than spary paint. I will never have another bike spray painted. You should be O.K getting them power coated. To give you an idea Impact coatings charge £30 to strip, prime and pwder coat a frame.
