Posting a frame to the US.

Ive recently sold my Kona Explosif frame on Ebay

My problem is I popped a price of £35 on postage as a flat rate to non UK destinations. (i made a booboo when using the parcel 2 go quote and still had an EU destination selected when I was meant to have selected US.)

Any way, the frame didn't sell for a lot...just over £40 and the postage is looking as though its going to cost a minimum of £70+ . The person who won the auction (and also resides here) has offered to meet half way on the additional cost, which is very decent of him, however on a frame that didn't go for a lot it still sort of hurts to fork out additional on the postage.

So finally to the point, can any one recommend to me a method of getting a 5kg 100X70X20cm box to the US somewhere approaching a reasonable price?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay the extra , and appreciate the buyers willingness to go half way on the additional cost, However I would rather avoid it.

Cheers in advance for any info.

Hi, try these guys

http://parcel2ship.co.uk/acatalog/Premi ... d_USA.html

£33.75 to US

Delivery of a parcel to anywhere in mainland USA.

Collection date and delivery time cannot be guaranteed (see terms and conditions) however this service is delivered through Parcelforce to ensure optimum service. Parcelforce quoted delivery time to mainland USA is just 3-4 days.

The maximum weight of your package is 5KG. The longest side when packed must be no more than 105 centimetres and the maximum length + the girth must be no more than 200 centimetres

Let us know how you get on as in my experiences online sometimes the price you see is not what you end up paying. Would be nice to see feedback on if they will send at the advertised price. :D :D

posting frames abroad i used lots of bubble wrap no cardboard it weights too much works well vitor can vouch for that his FS was sent this way.

Didnt use that company in the end, filled out all the details then it came up saying the volumetric weight was too much for the service and they couldnt deliver it. stating the weight would equate to around 11 kg or something...the parcel weighed 4.5kg.

So in the end I bit the bullet, took it to the PO and payed £72 ish.

Frame sold for £41 ish
I'd quoted £35 for postage...my error.
The buyer had offered to meet the extra half way.

so it essentially means i sold a Kona explosif frame for an unfortunate £22.50 (taking into account my half of the extra postage) And without the buyer paying half the extra postage, the total money for the frame would have been a shocking £4!!!

I sort of wish id just said I couldnt post it to the US after all.

Really good lesson learned on my part. Check out postage costs for items in more detail in the future! maybe dont ship larger items any where but UK/EU... either way, I've learned :(

Not your fault at all! my own fault for not looking into postage well enough, and also serves as a warning for other to do so before quoting a rough price.

If I agree to a sale, I feel im bound to go through with it :)

Has it arrived yet? I tried the tracker earlier but parcel forces tracking abillity popped back with a message claiming high current demand meant the service wasnt functional.

That's a bummer Jerky, I would be gutted if that happens to me, that was a high price to learn!

Sorry to hear that.

It showed up yesterday. After work today I'm gonna stop at my parents house and take a look. Life is much easier when the significant other doesn't see all the crap you buy
