postage on a frame?

i have just bought a frame off ebay and i need some help. the seller has advertised it as £10.00 postage but now i think he is having second thoughts as i think he wanted pickup. what i need to know is does anyone know any parcel service that would be about a tenner from edinburgh to manchester. thanks

£10 is too cheap. parcel force is around £15 with a basic insurance of £150. extra insurance, i believe up to £300 is another £11. bike box is usually free from most bike shops, then a load of pipe lagging, plastic (or otherwise) frame & fork axle spacers, foam pipe lagging & bubble wrap, depending on how securely packaged you want it to be... which all adds up..

incidently if anyone knows of a cheap source for foam pipe lagging "in a preventing frame damage style" please let me know :)

I've sent a whole bike in a cardboard bike box with bubble wrap etc. from the Post Office for about £13 so I reckon that unless it is a really hefty full suspension frame a tenner would be fine.

Why not send him £15 and if it comes to less he could pop the difference in an envelope and 'post' it through the carry holes in the bike box when he sends it. I've done this for other people and it has worked out fine.

are you guys sending your stuff insured? I just checked that parcel to go & for the insurance I required, it would have cost me £25 as the cheapest option. (which is £10 more than parcel force charged) I've posted 4 frames in the last 3weeks...
