Postage costs for various bits

I'm looking to sell some bits but have no idea about postage as I've only bought bike bits before and haven't sold any. Postage included seems to be the norm on retro bike, so it would be good to have a rough idea.

If someone could give me a run down of costs for the main bits I'd be grateful (frame, suspension forks, wheels, and a rough idea of smaller bits, mech, levers etc)

The last 2 or 3 pairs of suspension forks I've sent have cost between £7 and £7.50 to send.

A pair of wheels were a similar amount..

As a guide I find that rigid forks come in at about £5 2nd class
Frames with rigid forks £12.50 - £15 Parcel Force 48 hour
Small bits like mechs are about £2 first class
Cranks with rings about £3.50 first class

to be fair the price of postage is starting to make selling/buying a ball ache.

set of mozo pros to holland.£14 if under 2kgs. by the time id packaged them as they should, price at my po went to £35 ! dhl got the business at £16!

even the cheapest front mech is £2. And thats at a selling price of £8 for a good xt one. Hardley worth the effort..................

Small parts in jiffy bags don't cost more than £2.50 ish to send 2nd class depending on weight. Mechs, levers etc.

Larger parts have to be sent via standard parcel. This is down to the size. Handle bars (when they are wide but light) have cost me £4.50 to send, same ish for a pair of forks and upwards for heavier.

The last pair of wheels I posted cost about £12.50 but that was via a parcel parcel force 48 hr rate. You may get cheaper standard parcel.

All of this will depend on whether you want insurance, signed, recorded, tracked, speed of course :?

£2.50 is quite a proportion of £8 for say a set of mechs.
Sometimes its just easier to keep the bits in stock !

That is true, I have removed some items from sale for that very reason before. Obviously if the mech or whatever is worth more though and you need the cash then £2.50 to send something is worth it imo.

Agreed. . Got a few bits I'm holding on to for the time being for this very reason.

They use ParcelForce, not used them myself but heard from others who have.
They will collect from you so no need to hump a frame in a box to the P.O.
