my last treasure found is so perfect condition to throw me in serious doubt:

1) i won't ride it. i just keeep it like new just to polish it and talking with it

2) i ride it as it is

3) i change saddle, tires, pedals and grips and i use it.

i would go for 3.

but i would love to hear your point of wiew.

bike is my new 1994 stumpjumper.

thank you.

Filippo

I found the perfect one, rode it, sold it, now regret it.

It wasnt an expensive bike though but the chances of me finding another as complete (the correct forks) are pretty slim.

All 3 sound good.

''good bicycle, shiny bicycle!''

Re:

I'd go with option 3.
Let's face it, it's not uber rare , or worth thousands of pounds, and I understand that to you it's value is immeasurable, but personally I think you'd get more enjoyment out of it by riding it now and then and taking good care of it.
Think if it like a classic car that gets brought out of the garage on sunny dry weekends for a blast in the country.

Unless of course you already have s similar Stumpjumper, in which case you could afford to cosset the new one and keep it as a "Garage Queen".

PS: why not add a "Poll" to this thread so folk can vote? as per the thread title.

Life is short........look after it (I've several bikes I don't take out in the wet), but use it and enjoy it!...... :D

Re:

No 3

IMO ALL bikes are for riding .
What's the point of them otherwise ?
That is what they are made for at the end of the day .
Enjoy , buddy

Re:

Defo Number 3 ... ride it and enjoy it
I have one garage queen which I kept but I decided to sell it ...... If it does not sell I have decided to take it out on a rainy day and ride it hard and keep it

Re:

Just ride it!

But, you can take precautions to ensure you don't scuff cranks or wreck tyres. Swap tyres and saddle over, and put protective tape on cranks.
