Continuing on from my decal removal thread, I have now removed all the original GT and LTS decals.

However.....

Where the decals used to be is now darker than the rest of the frame! Slightly annoying :x

Does anyone know how I can sort this problem out? Can it be sorted? Has my frame now got GT and LTS tattoos!

I have removed all the glue residue, and spent an hour or so last night polishing and polishing with T-Cut and brasso, so its better, but not perfect.

Unless I can sort it, I'm going to have to be so careful when re-applying new decals to get the EXACT same size repoductions......and the get them stuck back in the EXACT original position!!!!

HELP

detailingworld.co.uk is the car-polisher's equivalent of retrobike

i'm sure a search there would quickly turn up a good cutting polish for your needs.

Polish...

Have you tried using wet & dry paper ,say starting from 800grade through to 1200, then the final finishing polish,to Buff it up, should be with brasso, duraglit ,auotosol etc some liquid polish?Tried this on my Aarnio perspex Bubble chair it worked a treat to remove the fine, aswell as,deep scratches.

Brasso should remove it eventually,is a bit abrasive ,just have to be patient mate.

AutoChrome from car shops is good stuff too

Leave it as it is.

You'll know where the decals have to go when you get the new ones.

Then when some smart ass says the 'GT' logo is too far down the doo dah you can go... "ha! just goes to show what you know!" (Or some such retort)

Cool, cheers

[dumb question] should I be concentrating on the area where the stickers where, or the rest of the frame?

It's caused by fading due to sun light. red anodising is a real bugger for it. To stand any chance you need to brasso the dark bits to try and rub through them to make them lighter. You'll just make it worse if you do the lighter bits.

Honestly, if it was me, I'd just put some new decals over the darker areas, there could be tears else.
