Polished Cinelli Stem

Thought you guys might like to see this, bought an original 80's Cinelli stem on the bay and had a guy I know threw the BMX world give it a make over (polish) I'm well pleased with the results and if any one wants his details just shout.

Polishing alloy stuff always gives a new lease of life to a part which would have found
itself in the bin, recently renovated an old Cinelli stem which had been clamped in a steel
vice, so the upper & lower section & sides of the clamp area had very bad and deep cross
shapes caused by the vice, It was clamped in a vice so the stem would 'crack' free, after that
it was being thrown but I saved its poor little life by filing out the bad marks and re-polishing up.

You get great satisfaction from doing this don't you Maca

To be honest my skills do not go this far. While I like to rescue old parts when it comes to things like this I send it to a guy :)

So I'm not sure what he uses to be honest, when I say polish he will use grades of sand paper 1st.

If you want his contact details I can supply as he is very resonable I think.

You big cheater Maca...lol

You don't need skill but patience and how far to go with the filing & wet n dry process, then final polish.

So how much did it cost to get polished matey ? I'm curious

I'll always hold my hand up Ian :)

It cost me £22 inc the postage back, which considering a NOS one of these is £80 odd I didn't mind paying and I think it looks better.

Re:

Not a bad price for that either then, still think polished looks better thou :-)
