I might be able to find a mooring that is closer to uni, if I take up my offer. Great, but it's 14 miles away.
I could commute 14 miles each way on a bike, I did in the past but I don't know if I'll always want to. I can't really afford a car, so I was thinking a little (50-125ish?) motorbike would be nice for days when I wasn't up for riding.
I can't ride; my one experience of motorcycles is crashing my mate's while trying to impress my girlfriend when I was 16. I never told him I couldn't ride one.
My plan would be to take a CBT and then do my test, which I guess I'd be OK with (I have had a car license for years).
So what do you think? I don't care if kids laugh at me; no midlife crises here! My insurance quotes are only about £75, with £15 road tax and decent fuel economy(actually, how much petrol does a bike like this use?)it seems OK. But are there other expenses I haven't thought of? Would I realistically get started with, say, £2500? What are they like for working on? Could I do the servicing myself? How much are the running costs?
Any advice appreciated.
