Hi all
I have a much loved yellow Peter Grisley Silvertip 30. Its 97 or maybe 98. 97 I think. Mostly original.
I have always spun out of gears on the flat and have finally got round to changing the chainset to get more va-va-voom.
It had a XT front mech, FD-M739 top pull I believe, with LX chainset, FC-M569. 22/32/42T
I've stayed true to the era with a XTR FC-M590 46/34/24 + BB-M590 as I didn't want to muck around with 8sp 9sp cross-overs.
Two requests.
1. Does anyone have a stash of mags from the era that can find the original review of this bike. I'm sure it said something like "if you enter a race and don't win, don't blame the bike". Suffice to say I've never won. Still race it though =)
2. Do I need to swap out the front mech for an FD-M590 due to the increased chainset top ring?
