A mad, mad evening. Hopefully TK will delete the GPS data for the evening, I think we managed 11 miles in just over 3 hours! Possibly a new Macretro record.
Lambs to the slaughter
Hooring up the climb up to Maiden's Cleugh from Harlaw. Only 4 miles in - Mechanicals 3, Punctures 1, Minor Crashes 2, Serious Crashes 1.
Big eck batters Maiden's Cleugh into submission with 20 year old brake pads and Shonki Chen commuter tyres
Radek arrives after a suspiciously long gap
Another big gap and here come TheKen - apparently it was my fault he didn't catch mega air off the water bar, still travelling though!
And here come's Mikee...
Reading the trail really well and not um, err skidding to a halt
Stephan on the borrowed Raleigh
And enid, slightly the worse for wear. Serious crashes now 2.
Velo going so fast he's gone all blurry
Enid's trail rash and cracked helmet
Should have known it was going to be an evening of mechanicals after Velo showed up and declared his cranks had fell off 5 minutes after leaving his house. 5 minutes into the ride, and PING, seatpost clamp springs backwards and up, rattling my knackers in a not so pleasant manner. Catch up with the rest of the group, and Stephan's having a problem with the rear QR. And so it continued...
I wiped out 5 minutes later in the same place as I crashed last year, then Enid had a big off into a burn, Velo had a puncture, TheKen's seatpost started sliding down the tube, and so it continued... I had my second crash at the top of Maidens, then Enid came a cropper destroying his helmet and most of his left knee.
3 punctures, 1 broken chain, a couple of sets of sore nuts, 2 knackered saddles, and far too many crashes. A mental evening, the last 10 minutes definitely the hardest part of the ride, couldn't ride straight for laughing at big ecks bent seat and TheKen's shit/mud/something? covered hands.
Half a tube of savlon and a couple of painkillers and I almost feel human.
Oh and velo stole the car park dash from underneath my nose
